Do you want it to be a Mopar A body? Or will some other make work for you? Falcons and Comets are light and pretty cool IMHO...

Seein' as how you're an "equal opportunity" kinda racer...

An A body is fine. If a Duster could get down to around 2400 lbs I would build one of those, I think that would be a good competitive weight as a starting point. My Camaro is too heavy for a slant engine to go as fast as i'd like, but fine if you've got 1200 HP, Its been 8.60's before. Im not to keen on cross breeding engines and cars, but I like a wide variety of them, and can appreciate all types and am not stuck on just one brand like a lot of people are.

Yeah, sounds like an A body is what you're after then.

Although, a Dakota can be made pretty light and there are a couple runnin' Slants in 'em without too much trouble... They can usually be picked up as a roller for fairly cheap too.

Are you wanting a certain vibe, feel, period, look,... :?: Or do you just "Want to go Fast!"

Going FAST would be neat! I see a lot of Duster's pretty cheap and there not bad looking. If they can be made light enough without having to resort to a tube chassis I would do one of those. The 65 and 66 Valiant's are OK too, there already light so making them even lighter would not be too hard, and still probably lighter than you can make a Duster. Anyone ever bulid a Duster that was 2500 lbs or less...how 'bout with an aluminum block?

There are a lot more lightwt body panels and such available for the (popular) Dusters, but that takes more $$ too. You can make a Duster probably just as light as a 60-66 Valiant/Dart with those parts.

Well thats good to know. I could do a tube chassis, but just don't want to waste the racing season away doing it with there being some races close by to go to.

Is Mike still into the K.O.S. thing?

What is your K.O.S. car?
Got in touch with Mike Robbins on Friday, and he said he is basically in a holding pattern. He has a 588 CID all aluminum Hemi that is lonesome and needs a chassis of some kind to go into. He just isn't sure what type of class or racing venue he will persue. In KOS you currently have to go buy a Funny Car engine to be competitive if you run a Chrysler. Can you image a 5-6000 HP in a 3000 lb+ car. Thats the level the KOS has progressed to. If you can't run in the mid 4.50's in the 1/8, or high 7's in the quarter you don't even need to waste your time loading your car for a race, just go back inside and watch a ball game or something. Anyway, he didn't seem to be through with the KOS stuff or Outlaw racing yet, but did say he had big plans for the Challanger Rob ended up with when it was built, but I think he meant with a Hemi and not a Slant. So thats what he has going on right now. I'll update if I hear anything further from him.

Thanks Scott. I was under the impression that Mike was actually building the Challenger to BE a Slant 6 car... :?

The way it's set up it can easily accomodate just about any engine you want to slip in there. It's a roller right now...

So, no interest from Mike to play with us "Slanted Folks", huh? :(

That KOS and Outlaw racing is fun to watch, but it has to get old always having to pump those cubic dollars into those things to stay competitive.

Slant 6 racing is just fun... :D

Keep workin' on him and invite him to a Slant 6 race...

Ok, he might have built it for a Slant, he's always been a Hemi guy since i've known him. Just when he said he had "Big" plans for it, I just took it to mean with one of his Hemi's, he didn't really clarify that statement. I'll keep working on him to come to some Slant races. You never know, that might be all it takes to get him hooked since he doesn't have any projects going on currently.

That would be great. I've never met him, but it would be nice to see the guy that started the Challenger on its given path to being one sweet Slant 6 ride! 8)

Makes me want to put a little more effort into getting the Challenger ready this season... In fact, I think I'll spend the evening at the garage "playing cars" and include the Challenger in the mix.

Hey Scott,

Now that you're about to enter the fray of Slant 6 Drag Racing, you'll need to start a thread in Virtual Dragstrip documenting your build.

Will it look like this?

I cant hardly see over the hood of my Camaro now....but the front wheels are usually 3 feet in the air too, but it has a 7" cowl hood on it. I think that blower is just about as big as a whole Slant engine is. Anybody ever put an M90 blower on a Slant, that would be pretty neat.

One of the first, if not "THE" first.
