So what's the $ per HP ............
From what I can see 1,000 for the cam and 500 for the lifters, plus to see max benefit you need roller rockers, when you can get them are about another 500.00 so 2,000 for an average of 30 hp gain depending on build/fuel/power levels that is about 67.00 per hp.

On boost the gains will be more significant.

The roller lifters come out around 500 bucks.
I'm going to give Scorpion Performance a try on Mech Roller lifters when I run 'the experiment'...
$340+shipping for 16 if you get at Summit isn't bad. Probably closer to $300 if you buy 6 pairs at $45+ shipping each...

Thanks Charlie.

I know Summit has to have some mark up beyond the 'handling' fee they charge. I guess it would be interesting to know what the cost would be if they sell direct out the door...

I called OCG this morning. They have researched having Roller billets with the rough grinding done delivered to them. He's thinking if we were able to put a Group buy together we could get a better price. Last time he checked on it for a single, it was about $600 for the blank only.

We'll see where Roto-Faze comes in for price.

If this starts coming together and there's enough interest, we could initiate a group buy. Pretty sure OCG would be in for something like that. I'll have to see if Crane/Roto-Faze would be interested.

Put your name on the list if your interested in the concept. Keep in mind, best price will likely be around a grand. If that's not something your going to do, then leave your name off the list. We'll need a real number to work with. This is not for tire kickers.

I made a post over a year ago(do a search)about being able to provide a new 8620 Billet Roller cam(copper plated, heat treated, finish ground to your spec, ready to stick in the engine)in the $600-$650 range and no one seemed interested. So how do you think $1000+ is such a good deal just for the cam....

Don't recall the post.

Edit: Found it. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0
Have you made one of these, or was the thread the end of research?

Yeah, thats it. Sorry, it was a little farther back than I thought. No one really showed any interest at that time to move forward with it. What lifters are going to be used? Doc showed us that an oil pump drive gear is available and compatible with a steel billet, but nobody expressed much interest or desire, only that it was overkill for these engines and the head was the limiting factor moreso than the cam grinds that were currently available with flat tappets, and from most of the comments in that post, many felt that a roller cam was not going to be of much benefit for the investment.

I have a bronze OP gear laying around if anyone needs it. :D

I would bet that I was one of the ones who thought a roller cam was a waste of money.

I still do too.

Prove me wrong, it's been done before.

Going dry sump. I'll need to go with Bronze on the Mag though.

CNCdude, send me a PM with your company info.

Novice question here:

Does the Slant 6 use the same .904 lifters as the smallblock, or is the height different?

If they are the same and the lifter spacing is the same, couldn't we use currently available smallblock lifters?

You can put me down as interested.

Same as a big block...

Remember the slant 6 has many of the same features as the b & RB engines along the crank and cam lines....
