Uhm... Just to be sure I got this right. You have the boost reference hooked up to...somewhere before the throttle? There is a hose from the intake manifold to the "other" side of the wg actuator, with no thingies in the line? I would just disconnect the vacuum hose...and plug the hole in the manifold. Then leave the extra port on the wg open. I hope someone smarter than me comes to correct my mistakes

I went out and tested it tonight. The spring brings the boost in a little later, but does not limit the upper end. It still peaks at around 9 PSI, but starts a tad later. I think in order to limit boost, I might have to modify the wastegate itself to let more gas to flow. Sam |

Thanks EMS. That was interesting. I bookmarked both articles for future reference. However, this approach assumed not enough boost, and not too much. This seems to be the standard concern of most articles about boost control. I think I know enough now to trouble shoot the existing system. I will rig up a fitting to plumb my air compressor to the actuator, and see if it is doing its job, and to see if full motion is present. And, I will be able to monitor the air pressure required to get the actuator moving. Then I will move on from there. Sam |

Sounds like a good idea to me! I would still remove the vacuum line first, and see if that helps, as boost on both sides of the diaphragm would be...useless, kinda... |

I will check that out. I am pretty sure there is a check valve in the vacuum line. Its purpose to help keep the wastegate closed. |
