It's easy to sit back and say something is way overpriced, but the reality is they have one and you need one. A part is worth exactly how many dollars someone will peel off the stack.

I've had a few deals lately where I gave guys more than they were asking because their prices were too cheap. I have also paid way too much just because I knew the seller and their situation in life.
You're right.......I get the "It's worth what someone is willing to pay", problem is a lot of spare parts for 60-62 Vals obviously aren't worth the asking price, because nobody is buying them. I know of items that have been listed for over a year, and the reason they don't sell ?? The cost of the part is almost as much as you can pick up a spare parts car.

I guess in the end a seller has to weigh up is it really worth having bits lying around for an eternity waiting for that "big score" (which - if that's your big score - is pretty ordinary), or.....price it reasonably and sell it sooner and have the money in hand.

Obviously, just my opinion, but when I see people at swaps or chat online and they're not even bothering with looking at what some are selling.....you have to wonder is it really worth it.

One day, while walking dogs through the neighborhood, I see an old fellow in his 80's standing in front of his garage (which had never been opened before). I spied the 67-8 Mustang coupe under a good inch of dust in there.

I inquired, "what year is the Mustang? '67 or '68? His response was classic. "I'll never sell that car!!!"

"That's fine, Sir. I'm not a Ford guy. I was just making conversation. You obviously love the car. When was the last time it ran?" He repeated, "I love that car. I'll never sell it! They took my damn license."

Years later, I was walking through and happened upon his descendants cleaning out the garage. "What became of the Mustang?" "We had it towed off. Got $300 for it. It had no keys, four flat tires, and we couldn't even find the title."

No moral. Just a story. I'll never forget that guy. And he never sold his beloved car.

Now that would piss me off.
I've been after an older than '93 Dodge truck for a while now. Started looking in the south via CL, had a deal for one in Texas but I couldn't get off of work to go get it right away. There's been an 87 sitting 1/2 mile away from me for years. I know the next door neighbor to where it was. He's asked for me, I've left notes on the seat and in the mailbox, real clean straight truck.
Never heard back.
Been watching the 85 that I ended up with sit, not far from work, again been sitting a few years that I know of. Drove by the 85 one Saturday, and finally signs of life at this house. I talked to the guy and we came up with a price, I told him I'd let him know. Went past where the 87 had sat, (it was a little cleaner than the 85, less scrapes from pulling in and out of the garage) and I discovered that the 87 was suddenly gone, so Monday after work I went and told the guy with the 85 that I'd take it
