I went in 2021 for the first time and loved it! I was helping crew on an AA/GL (biggest engine class/ unblown gas lakester) we lost a cylinder at the 4th mile and still did 303 mph! If you go as a spectator still through the pits and visit teams 99% will be glad to talk to you and show you their machine. I went back in 2023 but we couldn't run the lakester due to rain making poor conditions and only allowing for a short course. I'm from Maryland and am used to summers where the humidity will choke a cat. Being out at Bonneville was a breeze since the humidity was only about 16%. The temps were in the 90s maybe a day at 100. Definitely need to drink plenty of water since it's so dry and reapply sunscreen a few times everywhere. My wife and I are going back this year and I'm hoping my friend will have her 1947 GMC pickup ready to race. It's running in the vintage production pickup clasand is running a GMC 302 straight 6. You will see all kinds of stuff out there and I highly suggest going for any car enthusiasist. If any of you decide to go this year send me a message and I can introduce you to some teams. |

I was fortunate to be with Bob Daily and his slanted Barracuda the year I went. There were a few inlines there, one GMC I spoke with the crew for a while. It is a bucket list place for sure! Not sure when I will get back. |
