Rodney "The Terminator" Hargis took out Dale "The Southern Gentleman" Rose in the final.

Judy "This is Grandma's Slant Six" Drake was the lone semi-finalist.

Dad said he counted 14 cars at one point. Nice showing guys. Said there were a lot of new faces. Hope everyone had fun!

Tom

11 of us actually ran in the /6 eliminations. Mr Cox took me out with a .514 light and a 15.64 on a 15.6 dial. It was fun helping Paul get his car tuned between time trials. I didn't stay to watch eliminations because I was tracking down a screaming good deal on an A-body 8.75 w/ 3.23s and SG drum to drum for $250.
It was a really great time with some really great people I hope it comes back next year.

On friday I worked from 10am till 2:30 the next morning to get my car ready, and I even had to wake up extra early Saturday to install a steering pump. It was worth every minute.

The car was sluggish and not looking very pretty compared to the other cars at the event, but no one even seemed to notice. I think I was one of the slowest cars on the track, but I still had fun.

I couldn't have asked for a better time. Everyone was helpful and fun to talk with. My car got better every run, thanks to lots of hands on suggestions from other slanters.

19.475 sec at 69.9 mph (first run ever, what a rush!!)
19.634 sec at 70.1 mph (timing and carb adjustments made the motor run better, but the shifts were now waaaay too early)
18.96 sec at 73.75 mph (fixed the kickdown)

I actually let off the gas on my elemination race, thinking I was going way faster than my last time trial.

19.3 sec at 71 mph (dialed in at 18.90, I might have been closer if I knew how to drive :x )

I have a whole new respect for what it takes to run in the 17 sec range and below. These slant6 racing guys are dedicated!!!

After my elimination, the long hours and late nights set in, I skipped the sportsman eliminations on Sunday and got some much deserved R&R.

Thanks to everyone!!!

i thought 12 was a pretty decent turnout....really didnt think it would be that many, and total car count for the event was really good.

buzzin1/2dozen made me a spectator in round 1 :D , im sure the show will be back next year, hope to see everyone again.

I had a good time there also, even if I was just talking to the other /6 racers and filming /6 cars and time trials. Made me wish I'd kept my /6 Valiant a little longer, but then I remember how rusted and banged up it was, and how the tech guys probably wouldn't have let it on the track like that.

Once I edit all the /6 race footage, I'll post a message here so everyone can see it. I have about 20 minutes of pure /6 film to work with. I already transferred it into my computer.

I smell a highlights film!!

Dakin (one of my "pit crew") took about 100 pictures and some digital vidio as well. The film is not worth watching due to horrible resolution, but he got some good "match up" shots and I think he has a shot of every slant car that raced.

I don't have the webspace to post them all, but I would gladly email them to anyone who has web space or is interested in seeing them.

Send me a request at : pmoran "at" potentialtech.com

Send the pics to Doug and he can post them the website for everyone to see.

Dad took a bunch of digital pics as well as video taped every round of eliminations.

My stupid email rejects the verification?? Well, I fixed it anyways, and finally got logged in.

I sent a message to Doug in hopes that he can post these pics.

Please don't download them unless you plan on posting them for others to see. I get charged by the megabite, so I have to be tight with my bandwidth, but here is the link (it's an 18meg download):

Enjoy!

Who provides your ISP service? Search for a company called Sarcnet in the Detroit area. I have my loudmouthtim.com site hosted there. $20 a month for 500 MB disk space and unlimited bandwidth.

www.short-media.com is a computer website / message board, and the guy that runs it owns Sarcnet. It's always worked great for me.

I may have overstated my bandwidth limitations, but I still gotta be a little conservative or I'll have to start paying. There shouldn't be any problem with everyone looking at these edited pics. They are from time trials at the Pittsburgh race. Sorry, I know some of the cars are not pictured, but I wasn't the one holding the camera.

If anyone sees themselves and wants a higher resolution copy of the pic, please feel free to ask, and I'll email it to you.

Wow, that looks like Romeo Furios Dart in there. Long trip from Las Vegas to Pittsburgh! Sounds like fun and I'll try to make it next year.

Lou

he visits home regularly according to the article, bit of a celeberty now that he and his partner have had a few cars in magazines.
