Post subject:  converting hyd. to solid?

Hi I have a 74 dart swinger 225-4speed. I blew up the motor in the car spun bearing-should not have put in hi-vol pump- oil got hot and broke down I think.-too much friction? It is solid lifter w/228/448 isky cam. This cam runs great by the way plenty of low end it will pull the car along at 1100 rpm in 4 th gear (o/d 4speed w 3.91 gears) My buddy has a low mileage hyd motor from 80's truck- cam is still ok- cam I swap cam and lifter w/my 74 head on to hyd motor and get away with it? Thanks for your help

Another option to consider. Looks like a nice 225 in the crate on eBay. This is the second time it's been offered. I'd bet $400 would take it.

You can do this swap if you change everything in the valve train, cam all the way up to the valve cover. It would be a good idea to install new lifters but if that is not on the budgit, atleast keep each lifter on the same cam lobe. this goes for the push rods and rocker arms also, keep everything in order.
