Post subject: T-5 Swap from OZ?

I am very interseted in the T-5 swap and would like to do this to my slanted 72 Duster. I found the kits that Castlemain Rodshop makes and i think i will do this if I can figure for sure what a Holden V-6 T-5 with the 9.5" input shaft transimission is. I read it is the same as a Buick T-5, Is this true. What cars in the United states come with this tranny? I can think of any Buicks with T-5's besides maybe a Reagal Grand National.
Thanks in advance. DusterNut

Does anyone have a pics of this kit from austrailia?
Does anyone have pics of the Supra Tranny? I heard its stronger and cheaper than the T-5? Has anyone ever put a Supra box behind their Slant? I read about a funky bellhousing bolt patten which doesnt really matter if Im going with a adapter plate. What is the Input shaft lenth on the supra box?
Thanks,

They have a Supra bellhousing for the LA motor, but no parts to adapt the Toyota trans to a slant six. They sell an adaptor for a GM T-5 to a slant six, asking prices seem reasonable as the AU dollar exchange rate is favorable. I have a Supra transmission, it's a sturdy piece and didn't cost much at the local salvage yard. You can find these also in Cresidas. I haven't made an adaptor.

Check out www.keislerauto.com Their ad in the August 2002 'MOPAR Muscle' Magazine offers a 5 speed set up with tranny, bellhousing shifters, crossmembers, etc. Hope this helps - MRDODG

Well it has been a decade and a half. Anyone ever fit a 5 speed behind their Slant?

Yes, people have put 5-speed transmissions behind Slant-6 engines; they've been doing it for decades. Toyota Celica 5-speeds, for example. There was a photo-illustrated report of such a conversion by Steve Lukehurst on page 27 of the June 1986 Slant-6 News. He didn't use the linked Dellow bellhousing; he used an adaptor plate plus an ordinary Slant-6 3-speed bellhousing. More recently, Sam Powell (of this board, now deceased) put a T-5 in his '69 Dart.

I have had a T5 working in my 64 Dart since 2002. There are pages about it on this site.
