I am trying to install a slant into a 1983 240 Volvo. I have a bare block with oil pan and head attached and also mounted to a 904 torqueflite suspended from a hoist in the engine compartment. I was doing this to fabricate the motor mounts. I had to widen the transmission tunnel a little and dimple the drivers side firewall. It looked pretty good, but because of the rack and pinion steering the back of the motor is about 2 1/2 inches lower than the front. The transmission output shaft is centered in the driveshaft tunnel and seems to be lined up with the rear end okay. My question is will this engine angle cause a problem? keith.meade@mindspring.com |

Sounds pretty good so far, what you need to do is put an intake manifold onto the mock-up and set a level on the carb flange. Try to get the carb mounting somewhat level when the front suspension is "loaded". (you may need to put some extra weight up front to simulate the complete engine assembly weight. As for the front to back tilt, the u-joint will handle a good amount of the angle and other adjustments can be made to get that minimized. DD |

: : Thanks for the help! I will mount the intake and get the carb level. I'm probably three to four months away from a "test drive". I will surely have some more questions along the way. keith.meade@mindspring.com |

Cant me much different then putting big tires on the back with air shocks and little tires on the front/lowering the toy-bars for a wicked rake. I think the slant should be ok with more then one slant to it. |
