My '69 Valiant is missing the little red needle inside the gear indicator on the steering column. I pulled the steering wheel to take a look and I don't see a place to attach a needle. The indicator doesn't even have a space to put one in! Did the '69 cars have the pointer or is the indicator just a guide. I am trying to keep the car as authentic as possible, so if it's supposed to be there, I want to put one in. Joel jbrig@enter.net |

The problem can be as simple as re-installing the floresant orange clip-on pointer, it slips onto a small raised tab on the diecast steering column "collar" the rotater with the selector lever movement. In my case, the small tab on the collar has broken-off so there is no longer a place for the pointer to mount. I will have to dis-assemble the steering column and replace the collar to fix this, I am waiting for a good reason to do that job. DD |
