We are still planning to come so far Charrlie. Hope to make it by the time track opens. I have to get an 80' tower off the trailer, this could be a stumble in the plans tho. |

Talked to the track, today. They have a Friday night TNT, and will allow overnight camping. |

Looking forward to meeting the slant six racers. I have a stock 67 Belevedere, 225, 3-speed. I would like to try drag racing and hope you all will show me what to do. |

I'm looking forward as well to seeing these sixes run. My project needs a jump start and I need a road trip. I haven't attended nor participated in drag racing in some years though I used to race rather than eat when I was hungry! |

I got to the track on Friday afternoon, and met with Ed Swearingen, the track owner. We discussed how the meet would be run, and he suggested a pit area. The track was very accomidating, saying we could run however we wanted (1/8, 1/4 mile, full tree, pro tree, etc. just let them know). The weather was purfect, cool, no wind, and not a big crowd. It was actually possible to "hot lap". I got in several good runs. Track opened about noon on Saturday (I spent the night at the track). Met several people from the FABO site, and the HAMB site. They came to spectate the slant six race. The Sat race was billed, on the time slips, as "Super Street & Slant 6 Racing Series" and the anouncer would call attention to the slants periodiclly. There was plenty of time for time shots for every one, between 1:00 and 5:00pm. I was, however dissapointed in there only being 3 slant six cars. Two of them being my Valiant and Cuda. and the other a 67 Belvedere 225 3 on the tree belonging to George Buchan from Newnan, Ga. We flipped for the bye run, which George got. I beat Steve Adams driving my Valiant, when he unknowing had the shifter in second on the line. In the final against George 20.10 dial to a 13.66 for me, I comitted the fatal mistake of leaving .031 early. George did run a 21.15 on a 21.10 So congrates to George on his first win. I was disappointed with the low turnout. The track did invite the slant six cars back any time we would like to go there. We would just have to check and make sure they are not running a major event. Some of the spectators expressed an interest in doing a slant race if we have one next year. |

Charrlie I know how you feel. I busted my butt on the headers and had 1 order. Make me wonder if drag racing is going to die here on the east coast..... Just depressed I guess. It will be a LONG winter. Frank PS THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS EVENT HAPPEN!!!!! |

Charlie, Thanks for your efforts here. Hopefully you got the word out and there will be more interest next year. There are lots of people with good intentions, but it's hard to tell who is actually going to show up these days. Hard to believe that no one else, of all the other guys in FL, showed up. Thanks again, Lou |

Charlie, Thanks for trying to keep a venue for our races in that area. I am sorry that you only had 3 cars. I know you have to be a little discouraged. Hopefully things will be better everywhere next year. Rick Covalt |

Charllie, if you have one next year, try not to have it the same weekend as Billetproof and I'll try and make it. One in September would be great for me as there is nothing happening in that month. That is when the HAMB meet used to be. I have no idea why they changed it unless they were wanting cooler weather. Robert |
