Some scum bag broke into my wife's '95 LHS last night. When the alarm went off, the low-life beat feet. Evidentally, he used a screwdriver. Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to prevent it from being stolen

I work at a custom car audio, security business. We hear stories like this all the time. Unfortunately, if a "professional" wants your car, there is not much you can do. Fortunately, most vandalism and break-ins are done by less experienced thieves. Forget about factory alarms, they are useless, but a good aftermarket alarm with a proximity sensor can scare off most amateurs. This sensor starts to chirp when anyone comes within a foot or two of the car.

Male offspring of female dogs, they are!! How about a high-powered rifle,(with good night vision), from about a block away.

If it's in the driveway, at home, an inexpensive motion-triggered flood light would probably help. They don't use much electricity and these things comming on will usually scare someone off.
