I recently bought a '63 Valiant 4-door in original condition (sans engine), but there were no keys for it. I need the following: 1) the ignition lock and the two front door locks; all these fit one key; and, 2) I need the trunk lock and key. I pulled the right side front door lock and the trunk lock and took them to a local locksmith to see if he could make keys, but since there were no identifying numbers on the lock sets, he couldn't make the keys. Does anybody out there is SL6 land have a set of locks and keys they would be willing to part with? Thanx.

I haven't checked the most recent catalog, but I've gotten lock set for doors, ignition, and trunk from Year One. They only list parts for newer cars like '66 and '69, but I think the locks for '63 are the same. Maybe someone can verify that.

I believe Paddock has them also.

I think you need a new locksmith. If you can give him the locks, which you say you did, he should be able to make new keys with out "identifying numbers."

The door locks and trunk locks are different on '65 or '66-down Mopars. When I last checked, you can't get the locks from restoration places, but you can get key blanks. A good locksmith should be able to make new keys for you and/or repair your locks.

Old car wrecking yards should have used locks for you too. Check in a Mopar mag or on the web.

Carl,

Just saw this post. I have a full lock set for re-keying the Mopar locks. I can do the door & ign but not the trunk. It has a "sidebar" lock and can't be re-pinned, but a good locksmith can make a key. For the rest, contact me. If you ship out what you have, I will use what I can and supply the rest. I'll try to notify you at your e-mail in case you don't get this.
