Don't know who put this one together but it is very nice. Looks like a 170. Also, it looks like the headers have a flange that runs the entire length of the cylinder head and the intake is bolted on top of it. Sweet Slant! |

Has this thing seen the street or a track yet? I will not be impressed until it does. At that point, I expect to be impressed... Lou |

Yup, thats Nitti's motor and the final engine has come a long way and looks much better than the mockup shown in that pic.

Why yes it has. Denny made her maiden voyage down the 1/4, leaving from an idle, netted a high 1.7x 60' and ran a 12.10 @ 112. Than the front cover on the converter failed and oiled down the track at the turn off, so we only got the one pass in.Lou After the converter was repaired, we took Steve's car to our local 1/8 mi for TnT. Playing around with different launch technique's, we finally got the car to run a 1.61 60' 7.19 @ 98mph. (it still needs more converter) And after we were done having our fun, we put Steve behind the wheel and let him have his fun with his new ride. Once the snow melts and our tracks are open, we're taking Steve's car back out and run at a 1/4 mi track. With a little more tuning and striving to get the car a better 60', should get his car into the 10's easily. Denny and I strived long and hard on this one off /6 and when Steve was rewarded with the Best Engine Award at the St. Paul World of Wheels, it damn near made me cry. |

Hemidup, Thanks so much for your input, both on building the engine, and on reporting its progress. Glad to hear you are working the bugs out. Hope I can see this car in person on some future visit to the Twin Cities, or maybe at a Slant 6 race?? Congrats on the best engine trophy!! All the best, Lou |

Quote: Hemidup,
We really want to get this car entered in a /6 race. That was Steve's main goal when he pulled the trigger on this project, but Steve's going to need lots more seat time or he'll be easy pickin's in the first round. I know he's got a bunch of track dates penciled in his calander.
