I'm wondering if the cast crank engines really are bad for high output use. I'm able to find cast crank motors everywhere these days...forged crank ones are seemingly harder to find around here.

I have one in my back yard right now. I took the crank out of it, and I was thinking that even this cast crank looks plenty tough.

I'm looking to build up a turbo motor to give me maybe 300 - 450 rwhp in a daily driver. Can a cast crank motor stand up to this kind of abuse (of course with better rods, pistons, etc.)? Are there any racers here who run cast crank motors? Does anybody have a high output daily driver with a cast crank motor?

Also, I was thinking that maybe the narrower bearings could be better in that there will be less friction due to the bearings. Is there any truth to this?

The engine that was in the "Buzzin' Half Duzzin'" when it became the first Slant door car in the tens had a cast crank in it.
