Well, after 4 years of driving my 73 Duster, with a 1bbl, I switched to a 2bbl set up over the weekend. Wow, what a difference. I am really impressed. I had no idea the power gain would be so much. The engine has about 125000 miles on it, but it feels like a new one now. I do have to return to the yard and get the kickdown rod, I noticed that mine will not work, even if I use my linkage there is now way to hook it up to the 2bbl. I have noticed that when I give it some hard pedal its hesitating. What could this be? The carb is farely new. Its got about 300 miles on it. I figured it was already adjusted. How should it be adjusted? It was a fairly extensive job, more so than I anticipated, but well worth it. I really thought I was driving a v-8 today. I could not believe the power gain. Well, let me know what you all think. Thanks Chuck |

A BBD upgrade is a great one. Make sure you have the float adjusted properly and the metering rods adjusted properly too. The metering rods(as I am finding out) can be a hit and miss thing to get them done just right. If you goto www.slantsix.com and go into the tech forum and search for my posts about the carb flooding you'll find a great diagram on how to adjust both. |
