I rebuilt the front drums on my 63 Valiant last year. I had a similar problem with the pads I got from Autozone. They had given me the only set they had available for my 63. I had them pull out a box for either a 61 or 62 valiant and the pads were noticeably smaller. I bought this set and everything went together perfectly. John Killin |

When properly adjusted, there should be a slight drag on drum brakes. |

I can barley turn the drum by hand. Although I know when I drive, my brakes are working, and there is not excessive drag that can be felt. I can still push the car by hand on a level surface. I guess I don't have anything to worry about. Any comments are appreciated. |

If you can push the car by hand w/o trouble, I think you're fine. Lou |

Thanks for your help!! I am kicking myself on this one!! I discovered that I installed the adjuster lower than where it should have been installed and caused the brake pads to be about a 1/8 inch out more than necessary. When I corrected the error the hub went on as it should, with slight friction. Thanks again!! Great website!! |

This is why you do one side at a time, so you can readily check your work. |
