:D I have 9" drums all the way around on my 67 barracuda. I rebuilt my front brakes, and noticed that the hub fit very tight over the pads. I am not sure if there should be friction. The adjuster is retracted all of the way.

Is this correct?

I rebuilt the front drums on my 63 Valiant last year. I had a similar problem with the pads I got from Autozone. They had given me the only set they had available for my 63.

I had them pull out a box for either a 61 or 62 valiant and the pads were noticeably smaller. I bought this set and everything went together perfectly.

When properly adjusted, there should be a slight drag on drum brakes.

I can barley turn the drum by hand. Although I know when I drive, my brakes are working, and there is not excessive drag that can be felt. I can still push the car by hand on a level surface. I guess I don't have anything to worry about.

Any comments are appreciated.

If you can push the car by hand w/o trouble, I think you're fine.

Thanks for your help!!

I am kicking myself on this one!! I discovered that I installed the adjuster lower than where it should have been installed and caused the brake pads to be about a 1/8 inch out more than necessary.

When I corrected the error the hub went on as it should, with slight friction.

Thanks again!! Great website!!
