I was watching some of the GTC / DTM cars racing recently and I was wondering about all the extra Aero Bits they have on the rear of the cars.


Are these pieces there to provide extra downforce in addition to the Large rear wing?

I was just watching some races from 2009 on Roku last night. One of the commentators mentioned the extra downforce at higher speeds. A car had one side ripped off in an altercation and it "appeared" that he was losing some time on the longer straights at Hockenheim. Not sure if it was due to the off balance and reduced downforce causing the driver to lift a little for stability or something else.

Anyway, they said those funky thingies on the side were for downforce...

DTM isn't nearly as exciting as BTCC... I wanted to watch the race at Hockenheim Ring since I raced my SRT-4 there a couple times.

Cool.. Going to Germany on the Honeymoon.. Might Catch a DTM etc. race at Norisring, Hockenheimring. Nürburgring etc.


Only 1 or 2 Dragstrips that I could find.. Some of them( dragstrips) dont let you race the rental cars there....Also I dotn think they have test n tune nights like we do here..

Sanctioned drag racing is pretty limited over there and the season is short. Only a handful of races.

There are clubs and other "non-sanctioned" drag races though. Nothing too scary, but some are more party and less race.

I raced autocross and a little drag racing with 1on1motorsports. They rent an old Air Force Base turned community airport in Bitburg (home of Bitburger beer ) The 1/4 mile is a runway. They actually have a decent tree, ET boards, etc.
