| Post subject: | Targa Newfoundland Rally In a Slant? |
Does anyone know if anybody out there has done this Rally in in a slanted car?? I saw highlights from the 2011 over the weekend, and A guy was running a 74 duster/dart sport with most likely a small block in it. A turboized MSIII'd Slant with a 5 speed would be nasty fun!javascript:emoticon('') Makes me think Josh skinner, Or Lou or Andy F. Might be interested in something like this http://www.targanewfoundland.com/ Camp out at Terry Littlejohn's Place Before you get started and help him wrench on that Blown slant! Greg |

There are rally prep guidelines in my old Direct Connection Chassis Book. Scotty Harvey rallied a 1964 Valiant in the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo, but it was a V8 car. My racing experience has all been closed course road racing with a little Solo 2 and drag racing thrown in. I don't even have a slant powered car at the moment although my '72 Swinger was originally a 225 car. I mean I'd love to do a race like this, but the timing isn't good. |

I thought Rarga newf would be cool till I figured out the costs. $5000 to enter.....then you have to get there. Better news is they are trying to get Targa West going 20 miles from here..... Even better news is I can drive the Hot Springs road anytime I want.... |

Speaking of LeMons, I am driving with Jason Ernst's E30 BMW with 225 on 3/3-3/4/12 at Carolina Motorsports Park. I'll be in about $6-800 for the weekend with entries, license, fire suit, tires... Should be a blast. I'd say $10k total cost is about right for a Targa trip... someday? Anyone want to join us to watch and possibly drive? I'll start a new thread... Lou |

I've done two LeMons races, one ChumpCar and I'm on a ChumpCar team at the moment. One thing I have to say is don't wait. My kids are 9 and 13 already. My older son has accompanied me to at least three slant six race weekends. The two LeMons races were out of town though and would have meant missing school and added expense. He did go to Speed Week at Bonneville last Summer though. |

True that. In 20 years they'll never remember the swim meet. But they'll remember racing with Dad. |

I guess a better point for me to make is don't miss an opportunity to make memories. Spring Break this year is me and my two boys on a road trip to Mexico with stops at Wildlife Safari and Six Flags along the way. |
