After a spun bearing and blown head gasket took my daily driver off the road this winter, Lou helped me throw together a quick low-budget motor to keep me mobile until there was time to build a slant right. And after he let me do a pass in the V2 a couple weekends ago, I decided there's no time like the present.

So, starting a build/project thread for a stout NA setup for the street and highway cruising. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to Mason-Dixon due to my brother's graduation, but Lou's dart makes a decent pickup truck and he brought a bunch of parts down my way... thanks to Charlie and others who hooked me up! And of course Lou, whose garage is a bottomless trove o' slants.

The car: 77 Aspen SE, rednecked out with vinyl top removed, 72ish go-wing, and snorkel haha. Few different shades of black primer, 14" ralleys, 904 stock converter, 2.76 open 7 1/4"

The Engine: 225 0.030" over, 0.030" under forged crank w/ pilot bored out for later converter. Tapered plug head milled 0.098". Mystery purple cam (will have to measure it and compare with an old catalog). Older clifford 4bbl intake with holley 390 (if it cleans up nice). MP 6-into-1 FMJ header, slightly used from being wedged into and A body.

Taking the block, crank, intake for tanking, boring, next week if all goes well. I'll try and keep this thread updated with the latest progress and inevitable mishaps.

Matt
