Hey guys,
I'm sorta new to these mopars. My wife just bought a 66 dart. Its in amazing condition.I just installed disc brakes off a 75 duster. My question is this, if I install a 3.8 litter supercharger on my slant six, is 400 horsepower achievable. Or should I install the 440 thats sitting in my garage.
I'm after the WOW factor when I pop the hood, And I feel the supercharged six will give me that. I'm after 400 horsepower reliably. And decent gas milage. Fuel injection maybe??
I leave it to you knowledgable fellows. Please help, even if its just your 2cents.
Thanks-Josh

I would thing 300hp would be more realistic, and the 440 would be a pain to install. Do a search, Al T did a supercharger from a 3.8L a while back.

400 HP (at crank) is doable, but this is not an "everyday proven" setup. Check out the EFI and turbo articles on this site for ideas there. Also, you might check this thread:

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... hlight=efi

It all depends on how much time, money, and ingenuity you have...

I'd say if I had $5-8k to spend and some solid hours, I will put together a 400HP slant with turbo and EFI. On the other hand, putting a 440 into a '66 Dart will also be a real pain and won't have nearly the cool factor that a turbo Slant will...

For "Wow" factor and a better, more balanced car, a Turbo or blown Slant is the way to go.

I have "shoe-horned" a big block into a 64-66 A-Body before and it was a nasty job.
When finished, the car was fast but a real front heavy machine, the car did not handle well at all and was only good for straight line runs.

O.k. then. I thank you all for your reply. I already have a new 3.8 ford supercharger. I'm going to give this a go.
