Dan emailed an interesting link to me.

Not a new idea, but a complete setup. Might be worth a few ponies at the high end.

I like the look of it, and it could be put in and block off the stock water pump cavity like the marine motors...I guess the next questions to ask are how many amps does it draw? (Which then becomes how much is it going to sag the battery from the line to the end of the run if I switch off the alternator during the run...how much will the alternator drag on the crank if I keep the juice flowing to keep the water flowing?)...

Why not go with one of these?

It drives your stock pump at a constant speed. Works fine on ruster. ( always have a few motors as a spare. I could go to a lighter setup later.. But for now it's good.

Maybe it's a weight / Cost option?

Several of the Eastern guys have run RV water system pumps on their drag cars (Dale, Norm, Ron H?). These work fine for a drag car and are much cheaper than such a system.

That one looks really nice for a street car, and I remember looking at it before - someday I will try that.

Yep, and add to that list, Will Burns' 'Cuda and the Seymour/Covalt Blue Valiant has a small Shogun pump plumbed much in the same fashion as the folks Lou had mentioned.
