Post subject:  Dynamic Converters

Hello Sages,

Has anyone Here, Besides Don D. Dealt with Dynamic Converters?

I have another Converter this year to try on Ruster (THANK YOU WILL BURNS!)

But I was just wondering about anyone's experience with Dynamic..

They have a really High Stalling 7" Converter that has piqued my interest for the time being.

I have never used one, but I watched a buddy of mine spend almost $900 after he sent them all the specs of his motor/car and slow down 5 tenths and 4 mph.

He was not amused. Turned his '69 440 Fury from a 12:90 to a 13:40 car. He was really torqued up when I drove past him with my Valiant on the hose.

The converter that is in the blue car is a Dynamic. It was bought through Chuck Lofgren who the transmission expert in these parts. Sometime between 1999 when I bought it and 2002 when I sent it back to lower the stall speed, Dynamic split into two companies both of which use the Dynamic name, one is run by Frank Lupo and the other by Lennie Courteau (?). Lennie also uses the name TCT and was still in business a couple of years ago. He was the one I sent the converter back to for some tweeking. That is the only converter I ever had and I think it is as good as any. In my opinion most 8" converters have similar parts in them, how they work in your car is dependent on how you communicate what you want and the capabilities of your car to the man that builds it. It is hard to get a converter exactly right the first time but once you see how it works in your car it is easier to return it and adjust it to stall where you want. I used to think that a 7" would perform better in our lower powered cars but I have come to respect the performance of a good 8 incher. I believe that Mark Goodman tried a 7" in the Lancer at one time.

Thanks for the insight - Car wont go faster without trying stuff.

It might go slower, but if that's the case, then I put the old parts back in.

Frank and Lenny used to be the Fairbanks guys. Now Frank is Dynamic and Lenny makes converters in the Carolinas under the name Ultimate.

I've had good luck with my Dynamics and the Stock Eliminator guys I know (3 total) swear by Lennie and Ultimate.

I had Lennie build one for my Slanter. I'll let you know.

Frank, and Lenny used to help me out with parts for my "stocker" Valiant, when they were at Fairbanks.

how my much stall do you need? my edge 9.5" is a 3500 stall but can be tweeked up to 45 or 5 if i remember...

the smaller the verter the less torque multiplication you get and the less efficient it becomes...

going to a 7" or even an 8" is a mistake unless you have horsepower to throw away...

call edge it was 550 shipped for a custom converter

I called this guy told him I was shopping. he's a 1 man shop, and said he's rebuilt stock salnt six units , but could build a race unit for a slant. was very honest/straight up. he's been torq'in since he was 15 @ his dads old shop. said he could build me a 3800 stall for $595 and make adjustments if needed.
looks to have supe feedback.
