| Post subject: | This is probably a good idea... |
I don't have much of an opinion about having a "catch-all" thread in this forum. I would guess some people would want such a thread to just "chew the hide" about topics posted here. Lou |

| Post subject: | Piston choice |
The piston in this motor cost $76.00....total. They are a set of stock cast pistons. Truth be told the problems we have had this year have not been in the motor or turbo. The trans problem looks like it was an assembly problem and the axle problem was our fault. The motor has run flawless and so has the turbo. Can't wait for the gasser race at Darlington in two weeks....we just might have to turn the boost up a little. Tom |

That Buzzin' Half Dozen video great. That car sounds mean! (see Slantzilla's post in this Virtual Dragstrip section). 11.76 @110mph awesome! |

I have always liked the 64 Dart look, especially on a road course! That photo got me working on my Dacuda's front suspension, now if I could just find some of those big wheels.... DD |

Thanks Doug. Hey, 5 years and I'm finally able to post pics... FYI, the wheels I have are designed to fit late model Mustangs, so if you have big bolt pattern and some ~ 0.5" wheel spacers you can get whatever size rim you want (check out, e.g., 1998 Mustang GT rims on www.tirerack.com). Junkyard or take-off wheels (17X8 esp) are pretty easy to come by. They are 16X8 with 5.72" backspace. Lou |

Josh, Thanks for your comments. I just moved from LA to NC about 10 months ago. I was within 2 hours of WS raceway and made it up there 4 times with the LA Shelby club. I miss my car buddies in LA a LOT, but life goes on... On that track, I only ever ran the 904 auto with a 10" converter, 3.23 gears, and 10" rear drums. The 11.25X1" rear discs are on an 8.75" axle with Moser big-bolt-pattern axles and are from www.tsmmfg.com - nice setup using mostly OEM parts and easy to get parts for. I am working on a T5 parts list and description, so please be patient on that. Thanks, Lou |

U-D-Man! Here is a guy that has set-out to race a SL6 in Las Vegas and is sure looks like he is there. I get the feeling that some serious thrashing is going-on. The car's 60 ft. times look "soft", (off the line) is the distributor giving the engine mechanical advance right off idle? (remember, the vacuum advance "drops-out" at WOT) Or is the car real heavy? Traction ptoblems? Can I hear you thinking "I need some 3.91 rearend gears"... Have you ever changed "pigs" in the pits at the dragstrip...twice in one day? Great job on getting out for a test session, I do that with my car tomorrow. Vegas, here we come! DD |

Thanks Doc! I was excited and so was my 11-yr old who took the pics. There was a guy with a 360 Dart we pitted next to and he said the same thing about the 60-ft times. I'm at a loss till I learn more about this game. No traction probs. Just lazy off the line. Stock TQ maybe? It seemed to be stalling real low... I'm at about 8 * or so BTDC at idle... Heavy? Probably. All stock, everything in it, and I'm no lightweight at 240. Full tank. I beat everybody lined up with me off the line. But every one of them was ahead at 60'. I used the good Doctor's drag racing tips from this site and it worked perfectly - my R/Ts were .126, .010, .094, .027, and .105. Yesss....3.90s or 4.10s...4bbl...cam...head....headers... it's a sickness. Oh, yeah, w'ell be in Vegas. Can't wait to meet all you fellow Slant sickness patients. |

Howzabout...swapping in some A999 internals when I rebuild the 904? Stronger parts, and isn't it a lower 1st ratio (2.7? vs. 2.45?) might help the launch I guess. I happen to have a 999 sitting in the garage... |

| Post subject: | Testing went well, I also need more gear... |
We thrashed on the 209 pretty hard and it came through just fine. This small engine sure does like to rev-up, I need to swap rear-end gears to take advantage of the low block RPMs. (4.88 goes in tomorrow) On the motor was kinda slow, a 15.26 @ 88 mph, went right to the NOS after that baseline pass, ran a 12.96 and a 12.79 There is some more time to be found but we stopped there, time to get packed-up for Las Vegas.
