Slant Six Forum :: Oil pump issue?

Has anyone ever seen this before? I was installing the Dutra oil pump in my "race" truck and needed to replace the gasket on the pressure relief nut. So I pulled a new pump off the shelf and robbed the gasket. But while I was looking at it I noticed quite a restricted passage on the new pump. Here is the picture of one of Doug's modified pumps and the restricted one. I would say it was an awful casting for sure. I will have to get out my die grinder and do some serious work on it if I ever want to use it.

With a better flowing AL casting you can relieve some of the restriction with your die grinder on an old original one. That cast iron Piece is too heavy anyway Greg

This is one example showing why I got into porting and "blueprinting" SL6 oil pumps... The aftermartket pump housing casting quality is "all over the map". DD
