Does everyone agree that the following interior trim pieces will swap between '73 2-Door Hardtop and '74 Sport models Dart? Dash pad Door pillars Kick panels Defroster vents If so, where can I get a good quality vinyl paint to change colors? "PittsburghSix" (John), I'm just wanting to make sure before I commit my son's last few $$$$. Jerry |

C'mon guys, Work with me here. How's a man supposed to make a life altering decision (what color paint to use), if his fellow slanters won't even reply to a survey? |

The dash pad, defroster vents and kick panels will work, but I'm not sure what you are referring to as the door pillars. I always use the SEM system when I recolor vinyl. Most auto paint stores carry their products. |

64 Convert, I think some have referred to them as A-pillars or A-posts. They are the vinyl trimmed portion of the frame that separates the door opening from the windshield. Don't know what else to call them. See the pieces hanging down in shreds in this photo? I take it that SEM is a brand name? thanks for the reply, Jerry

Dart 74, go with Viper yellow , no expert, but would not be suprised if the piller trim from the 73 would work for your 74. I'v learned the hard way that dodge parts interchange year to year as attested by the many post 70 peieces on my 63. |

I don't think the A-pillar trim will interchange. The windshields are different, so that makes me think the trim dimensions might be different. Yes, SEM is a brand name and they have been making products for re-coloring plastics for years. |

Dave, I guess there's something to be said for consistency, huh? Unfortunately, where I live, in central Texas, there are not that many salvage yards with older Mopar donors. So, I have to make do with what I can find. I did check the A-pillar trim on a '73 Swinger Saturday and found that it is different than my son's '74 Sport. However, the kick panels are an exact match ( took one off and compared part numbers). Sadly, it was not much better than mine. I'm trying to hook up with another of our fellow slanters here on this board to get some of his interior trim pieces. They are the wrong color, but I'm researching the options for using vinyl dye on them. I know of SEM and Duplicote products. Anyone have others they could recommend? The exterior color is another obstacle. My son wants to go back with yellow, but the original "Yellow Blaze" we can find hidden underneath some protected areas seems to be a bit muted for his taste. Although, he doesn't really want a really bright "in-your-face" color either. We've looked at lots of photos, and it seems to come down to the Viper Race Yellow or the Prowler Yellow as his two main options to the Blaze. It's his car, I'll let him decide, since he'll have to live with it every day. I just thought it would be fun to get some input from you guys. Thanks for the reply, Jerry |

Dart 74, I will be hitting some on the local yards later next week, will keep my eye out for a 74 and if complete pull it for you, as the later Darts are plentiful in the the yards here. Have used the dupli-coat brand with excellent results as my interior is a weird mauve and their the only source for the correct color. Now to your yellow delima. Personally I feel the later A bodies lend themself to bright colors so choose what appeals to you, I think viper yellow would be excellent! Did you find part numbers? if so leave me a pm with the details and will see what I can dig up. What color are we seeking? |
