I have located a '78 Volare Premier Station Wagon with a V8. The two barrel carb has these markings:

R-8448
4095918
2558

Anyone able to tell me what it is and would it work on my Super Six missing a carb?

Jerry

ps: Obviously the kickdown is much different, because it travels over the top of the engine to a pivot on the firewall. But I can get the linkage from the slant six Volare where I got the Super Six intake.

R- is a replacement for an OEM carb

My 1978 Parts catalog only lists carbs up to 8445...which is a Holley 2 barrel for a 360....

the parts catalog also doesn't have 4095918 so maybe the carb is a '79?

hmmm....

Anyone know of websites where I can do number searches for these carbs? I'm constantly scrounging around looking for a carb for my Dart Sport, and I hate to keep asking you guys.

all the mopars I've stripped carbs off of have that 'R' in front of it, but every Holley tech book I've looked at so far say 'R' is a replacement for OEM carb denotation...it's purported the 'R' got replaced with a '0' denotation...but the Holley coding line-up is really 'alphabet soup' oriented.
then you get the other items which I've yet to see two sources agree on are some of the other 'suffixes' like AAS,etc....

If you can shed some more light on sorting out the soup I'll take notes! :)

Try www.holley.com and www.carburetorfactory.com
On the first you may find what you need for your Dart. On the second you can see exploded views of carbs.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help folks,
We can probably close this thread. I just bought and rebuilt
a 2 bbl Carter BBD last week for our Super Six setup. It wasn't
that hard. Now, if I can only get all the adjustments made
after we get the engine installed. I will check out those websites
when I have some time.

Jerry
