the end of the throttle cable that attaches to the carb,, or a throttle body, barrel shaped coupling,, swedged over a metal cable,, what is a robust method to change the cable end length? are there adjustable barrel shaped connectors or a source that re-swedges? thanks |

You might take a trip down to a bicycle shop.....they can make cables and jackets of any length. |

oh I'm really late to the party! Maybe what I did will help others who come along later. Bike parts might work, but they're pretty light duty for this service. Can buy the housing and cable in pretty much any length, but the end attaching parts will be all up to the fabricator. Can buy m/c sized housing from Wick's Aircraft supplies, possibly from Barnett Custom Cables, or harvest it from something like an FJ62 or maybe a 280Z in the JY. I used some of the left-over FJ62 housing from a previous project vehicle, a 1/2" SST bolt for the adjuster body, a 1/2" SST shaft collar for the adjuster clamp, a ~2" OD pulley from McMaster, some SST 1/4" tubing, and some 1/8" SS cable from West Marine for the actual cable to build the cable throttle on my '65. ![]() ![]()
