well, finally it was nice enough to get to the track today. i have to say that racing the slant/swinger over my wicked modified dartsport was a blast. no need to worry about tire pressues, proper burnouts, launch rpms, shiftpoints, and missing shifts. nope, i just put in drive and stood on it. man, it was just as slow as i suspected but couldn't fool the guy in first round with the bigtime 7 sec lead. i lost when i broke out by .006 seconds and he ran his number dead on. so what does a stock(except for a flowmaster muff and open element air cleaner) 98000 mi 74 /6 swinger run? 20.0's. at least i got .5 of a second chopped off from where i started by getting on the converter before the green. fun, definately fun. i do miss going 12's in my other car though i have to say(looking for 11's this year with a big block). but i am hooked on the slant six deal for sure and will continue to try new things to get a bit more power out of this thing. id lik to achieve some 17's with some basic boltons and some serious tuning--i hope anyways.

And another one is hooked :D
Whats even more fun, is to run V-8 times with a slant

yes, i would agree on this but it seems from what i see that to do that, i need to make it a pretty stout motor and it might become a bit undrivable for the mrs. i already have a wicked smallblock car(getting a big block) that i can't really drive everywhere(high octane and 4.56 gears) and i like the cruising ability and the cornering ability im adding in and the fact i can have and hear the radio in this car unlike my other car i cant steer or hear anything in. my heart will always be with v-8's but this is a fun excursion from the norm that im definetaly interested in. i ran high 12's in my smallblock with a 2 bbl carb and single exhaust so i know how/like to be different for sure.

Hmmmm, wonder what my stock (except for open air cleaner and 2" exhaust) '72 Satellite would run....? :D

It is pretty easy (and fun) to find-out! :D
When was the last time you went to your local dragstrip?

You can have a lot of fun at the track with a near stock SL6.
Work on getting the car (and yourself) consistent and you can win a lot of rounds.

At my track they have a 4 & 6 cylinder class which is full of the "Fast and frivolous" rice burners, I can shoot a bunch of those FWD imports out of the sky with a stock Slant as long as I stay half awake.
When I run my 68 Cuda in that class all the kids scream foul.
Too bad that "Sport Street" bracket goes-on for miles and the crowd runs for the snack bar every time they call that class.
I'd rather race with the V8 cars just so i don't have to pop the hood 500 times a night to show everyone that it really is a Six.
