Terry, I like the rear mount setup but if I had to do it over again, I would have gone fuel injected vs. carbureted. If it was a drag only car, carbureted would not be an issue. Driving it on the street is another thing, I seem to constantly have to walk a fine line with my carb tuning. Carbs can be hard enough naturally aspirated to get tuned, then throw in the boosted aspect and it gets a little more difficult tuning wise. Brian |

I am currently upgrading my brakes and making some suspension tweaks for doing some road course driving. I did an autocross with it once, but the turbo kept kicking in right at the wrong moment at those slower speeds. Also, I found out the hard way about the need for a baffled/modified oil pan for that kind of driving. I suspect it would be a real blast on a road course. As far as daily driving, I have fallen in love with the turbo. Decent fuel mileage when at cruise, and the beast comes out on demand when desired. Brian |

nice. fuel injection helps with a lot, I would love to try turbo if I could find an inexpensive injection system for my budget.

Im in the process if putting the fitech power adder efi on my slant right now, my plans are to run it at on atleast 12 lbs of boost, my compression is at 9.1 right now |

I had pretty good luck with my two FWD Turbo cars (89 Lebaron GTS and 05 SRT4). I much prefer RWD cars though.

Was that just the ubiquitous turbo lag complaint or maybe related to a rear mounted turbo, or?

It was a little of both. Autocrossing usually involves delicate throttle inputs and you rarely get out of first gear. It is not about horsepower, its about handling and braking. If you have participated in one, you know what I am talking about. My rear mount setup does have some lag, and depending on the layout of the course, I would have boost kick in just as I was getting ready to brake in some areas. It did not diminish the fun I was having, it made it a wee bit more complicated at times. I'm sure I can either tune it or make a turbo change that would be friendlier for autocrossing. Brian |
