I have a msd-6a and blaster2 coil in the duster but I took off the coil wire (from the coil side) to let th oil pressure build up while cranking on the freshly assembled engine. The coil arched from the tower to the block! I have the coil mounted in the original stock bracket just behind the alternator. Wow that is some really hot spark. I have a feeling that it may be too hot.. one of these days I may find a piston in the oil pan because of it. Should I be worried? Anyone care to run this simple experiment if you have the same setup?

The coil will only generate enough spark to jump the gap in the sparkplugs, about .035". With the coil wire off, the MSD was able to generate enough current to jump the two inches from the coil to the block. This is the exception, not the norm. Your pistons should be just fine.
