Post subject:  3000 rpm stall converter for slant

Tested my car. Got 150km/h (94MPH) and 15.67s. Start is sloow as the powerband starts at 2500rpm and the stock converter keeps the engine below.

I like to replace the converter with 3000 rpm unit. As the slant is less powered compared to small and big blocks I assume I will not get 3000 rpm if I buy a 3000 rpm advertised part.

Recommendations? Brake test of the engine and custom built converter. Or just buy a 3500 part to get 3000?

If you were to buy a V8-spec converter, ask for 4000 RPM stall. That might not be reliable given the wide range of converter companies and V8 torque levels.

There are several companies in the US that will make a converter with specified stall for the Slant 6. Get a 9.5" or 10" diameter converter. Here are two good ones.

Make sure to give them your engine/car details.
