Does anyone know if new, stock sized valves, are available back cut? Or should I just have the machine shop back cut my current valves?

Mopar Performance had back cut stock valves decades ago, but are now in the dust bin of history. If I were doing a budget head and couldn't afford the bill for 12 valves and machining I would use new stock exhaust valves and a larger intake valve. New 318 valve springs will work for mild cams.

I agree with Josh. If at all possible, get the 1.70 intakes at least if you are not big on cash. Is no one making the 1.70/1.44 valves inexpensively now?

www.sivalves.com/ is the only source I'm aware of for the 1.70", 1.44" valves.

The exhaust side flows well enough with a little detailing. The intake side needs the most help and hogging out the intake side for a bigger valve is cheaper than doing the same to the exhaust side with a new hard valve seat.

The SI ones I got last year were less than $10 each.

I had my head machined and rebuilt last year. The valves were less than 5 bucks each, I believe they are Ferrea's, 1.68 intake and 1.44 exhaust. If you need the details I can check with the machine shop after the holidays.

Yes that would be good info to have. They may have a slightly larger intake available also?

I think one of my heads has 1.71 Ferreas in it. As far as back cutting, it's part of any real good valve job. It's just an ectra zngle that narrows the seat width on the valve.
