Post subject:  side mirrors

I noticed that the '67 dart side mirror is further forward than '68 onward. I suppose this was moved back for better vision in the rear/sides. One question. I have two newer '68 doors, the driver side has a mirror the passenger does not. The driver mirror was hanging off the door by the remote cable and the surface of the door where it mounts looks to be deformed, like somebody tried to rip the mirror out of the door (or dropped the door on the mirror). Anyway, is that mounting surface supposed to follow the contour of the door, or does it have some raised portion? I'm considering whether to use the new doors on my '67 with the new mirror and door lock button positions or use my '67 doors (in better shape than the newer ones that I have).

I can send a pic of the current one if needed.

Here is a pic:

Seems like it definitely is deformed, but also hard to tell if there wasn't supposed to be some raised portion where the front stud hole is....that bit is raised about 1/4" from the door contour, so pretty far.

So far all the "Late" A-bodies I've removed the mirror from follows the contour (and even the F-bodies that have the mirror in a different
mounting location on the door). That raised area is probably from the person who tried to remove the mirror forcefully and
wasn't aware of the nut on the stud and coned the door material outward (other brand vehicles and some aftermarket
add on units will sometime have a bracket screwed to the body and the mirror body attached to it from the outside...sometimes
these other brand guys aren't so smart when removing mopar items at the junkyard).

Yes, it seems that the nut was pulled very evenly and made the raised area very uniform, almost looks like it was meant to be that way. Thanks. b

A coworker told me before at the yard where he used to work he saw a customer order a
crankshaft and the worker used a plasma cutter to remove it from the engine and gave it to
customer ,crankshaft wrapped in cardboard, "watch out it might still be hot"

Also attached to crankshaft was the bearing caps and the engine block journals
