Post subject:  Power Steering Leak!!

I've had a steady leak for a while now but it wasn't too concerning- I would just top it off with power steering fluid
I just took it for a drive and that small leak transformed into all of the fluid streaming out of the reservoir!!
I did recently top it off with ATF- would that have altered anything? And it was only heavily leaking while the car was on
Do ya guys happen to know why this occurred and what to fix/replace?
Thanks!!

One source of a leak:
Picture shows bottom of pump's fluid reservoir looks to be damaged. Probably will need to find a replacement tin reservoir and new "O" ring (go to in industrial bearing/seal place for "O" ring) . You may be able to carefully straighten old unit enough to get a good seal, but odds are it ain't going to be drip free.

There may be other leaks, one common area at bottom of gear is caused by a badly worn bushing and worn seal at output shaft.

De-grease the gear, pump and hoses, top off fluid, and look for fresh signs of leak. Won't be too hard to see leak or leaks if it is dumping that much fluid.

Hard to tell if the reservoir is bent, tweaked, etc. that's the first that needs to be known. If the drip is right there at the bottom where the housing mates with the pump, either the O-ring is old/bad or housing is damaged. I needed a new O-ring and went through 3 of them and it still leaked. I took a large hose clamp and put it as close to the lip on the housing as I could and started clamping. Stupid looking? Yes, but it's low and not really seen unless looking for it. Does it work? I'll answer with a question. You got any better ideas to stop a leak? You can't trust any replacement to not leak! Good Luck

In support of DusterIdiot's comment, I had FF do my box which sprung a giant leak and they did a great job. Dry as a bone for two years now - warm weather driver only. Professional to deal with, and quick turnaround.

You dudes are the best
Thank you
I bought a power steering gasket kit a while back
Maybe I'll try that or just replace the reservoir or pump cuz it's old and beat
Amy good places for those parts?
Thanks again fellas

Here's a link to video of the leak
It appears to be only leaking from the reservoir- is this also referred to as the steering pump?
What's the best course of action?
