Which side of our engine is the major thrust side? The lifter side? |

The major thrust side is always in the leading direction of crank rotation, so in a standard clockwise rotation inline engine it is always the drivers side of the cylinder. In a standard rotation V engine, it is the lifter valley side of the cylinders on the passenger side and the spark plug side of the cylinders on the drivers side of the block. So if you are sonic checking a block, that will help determining if you need to offset bore the block to maximize wall thickness. |
