Anybody have any idea of comparison between the Mopar performance 528 lift cam, and the Erson f282/340 cam from the old group buy. If you were building a 170 engine with approx 10-1 CR, engine builder valves, and about 150 nitrous shot, which cam would you use? I have both available. Car weight about 2750lbs, 9 1/2 inch edge converter (should be about 3,000 stall, brakes locked, and motor only) 4.56 rear, 7x26x15 slick

Charlie I always liked that cam but seen two of them wipe off lobes!! If you look in the Engine FAQ section on user cams I had Erson regrind a cam similar to the MP cam for Ryan's Dart. He ran it for 10+ years and 50K miles. It ran really nice. It had 110 LSA so I don't know if that would be good or bad for what your doing. But it worked well in his Dart.

The cam I just removed, was the mopar 528 and it wiped number 2 exhaust lobe. I have another one, but also have the Erson.

I loved my 280/270 Erson. With 10:1 it would be perfect.

If LSA is wider on the Erson, I would probably use that. 170 will want 4-6 deg more LSA at least compared to the 225. 10:1 is probably fine. Some of those later MP 528s had bad oil pump gears and people had trouble, IIRC.

MP cam has a 102 degree center line. Erson cam has a 106 degree centerline.

MP cam adv dur is 284 degrees. Erson is 282 degrees

MP cam dur at .050 is 241 degrees. Erson is 246 degrees

MP gross valve lift is .528. Erson is .510. Erson has slightly less valve lash, so net is slightly closer.

Centerline is not the same as LSA. For the 170, I would probably set the centerline around 106, yes. MP 0.528" is 108 LSA, IIRC. What is LSA for the Erson cam? 110?

I know, but I don't have the LSA for either cam. I need to do the math.
I think it is 106 LSA for the Erson

Don't have timing figures for the mopar cam

I don't have the dual pattern Erson cam. It is grind number F282/340
.510 lift 282 adv dur intake, and exhaust, 246 dur at .050 intake and exh

Figure out the lobes and specs you like and have Oregon cams make it for you...………….

Looks like they obsoleted that lobe pattern a long while back, the new catalog no longer carries it... F282/340 is a 282 duration with .340 lift ( x1.5 ratio = .510)...
and is a complete custom job over their old slant six catalog patterns, so you will have to measure or check the cam card for the LSA... If you knew the cam events I can
plug it into a program and spit out the overlap and LSA for you and save the scratchpad time.
I posted this above.
