Might be a dumb question, but would a Ford/Chevy/etc shifter fit a 1980 dodge van transmission without significant modification? I'm assuming no.

Thanks,

Paul

Highly doubtful. The shifter itself might work, but you would need the correct mounting plate, linkage, and shift arms for the trans that you're mounting it to, if a manual. If auto, you'd need the correct shift arm and cable.
Last I knew, it was quite a chore to get those parts individually.

Mopar floor shifters are versatile from one model to another. My '73 D100 has a shifter from a K-car, and the '56 Plymouth with a '66 transmission I'm working on now has a B-body shifter, year unknown.

Thanks guys,

So yes, a manual A833 four speed transmission is what it would go on. I will stick with Mopar stuff, but absolutely cost prohibitive to buy the parts individually. I'm going to try and make one tab and linkage for the reverse gear, but am stuck buying the stick. Once I get my book I will start figuring out what else I need.
