Whaddya guys use when you are assembling the hose ends on to the AN Type Hose? Some of the new ones I have been working with are a real bear to the point that they are defoeming my AN wrench.. Currently Working the -10 size / Diameter... I am not sure if that makes a difference or not. I $pent up for the pri¢er hose this time too... Maybe the Better hose just has a wee bit smaller I.D. and Larger O.D. which will cause the problems that I am having when trying to spin the hose ends on. Greg |

WD-40 I have also used red grease. A vise with aluminum jaw inserts helps and throw away the an wrench when putting the hoses together. Also always put a little lube on the threads even when putting the hose in place on the engine the aluminum on aluminum threads can gull up easily. Will |

I put the fitting in my vise using a leather glove as a cushion. And a little Vaseline on fitting. |

I use Royal Purple synthetic engine assembly lube when I assemble rubber lined AN hoses. It works well and I already have it sitting around. I hardly do it anymore as I've switched to the braided PTFE hose. It's far lighter and easier to work with when you use the thread-assemble fittings. But even better is when you use it with the crimped fittings which are more compact and can never, ever leak or come loose. XRP HP-79 is one such hose. On my soapbox, XRP and Earl's are the only two companies left who make fittings in the USA (to say, the only non-Chinese country making fittings). |
