Ok, so I’m working on my t5 swap. Trying to determine input shaft length. Got my tranny bolted to adapter to bellhousing. S10 t5 w/3.97 first gear, .73 od. Going into a ‘84 D150 w/3.55 rear end & 255/70/15 tire. Using a crank pocket pilot bushing. 1/2” thick adapter plate. How far into bushing should pilot shaft go? Learning from this site and learning as I go. Help, advice and comments/questions all welcomed. |

The best way is to just measure from the big flat part of the T5 case to the tip of the input shaft, since you have the tranny in your hands. There were tons of different input lengths. You might be able to search/google that exact trans and "input shaft length", but you will want to double check and measure yourself. Lou |

I am guessing you had the Crank Pilot bushing adapter made to fit your situation? There happens to be a decent article on the T5 Slant swap Here Most of us have Done Ford T5 Swaps with the 5.0 / 2.3 / or 3.8 Boxes. I am not sure on the length of your Input shaft, But one can measure it properly with a good square and ruler. Greg |

Actually going to try novak’s pilot bushing 716156gm. .590 x 1.818. Looks right for a gm input shaft. What I really need is a minimum depth shaft needs to penetrate bushing. Gm t5 does not seem to be popular, but gonna give it a try. Already have my bellhousing adapter done, it has the ford pattern on it as well as chevy. I know that swap is easier. |
