My best friend's father had a 1976 Valiant Brougham... 225-1V, A904, White, with Red Velour interior, split bench seat with fold down armrest. Air Conditioning, chrome drip rail and wheel well trim. AM radio, remote mirror...it wasn't as deluxe as say a Cordoba, but it was more deluxe than my dad's Feather Duster I was driving at the time (but the Feather was 'peppier' than the brougham) -D.Idiot |

Add to that lots of heavy sound deadening material, some of which when soaked with water from leaking windows and body seams added 1000 pounds to the car! Front grille on the Broughams was chrome plated over the plastic instead of silver painted. "Resonator" (mini muffler) in tail pipe. Oh, wait, some of that stuff was part of the "quiet package". Might have had fancier hubcaps than normal. Thought I had a brochure around here, no idea where to find it at this time. |

looks like the sound deadening material soaked in water also causes the doors to rust out! Joe |

I bought a '75 4-door Valiant Brougham brand new and it was truly a plush car. It was very quiet and comfortable to drive. Unfortunately, it was the most troublesome Mopar I ever owned, besides being terribly underpowered and not very economical. Somewhere, I have a brochure that has the equipment list and photos I can scan. I won't have time to look for it today, but will try to find it this weekend. |

I would appreciate that 64 convert. I knew that towards the end of the line Chrysler tried to nake the old A-bodies more luxurious, but I never knew that they went as far as the Brougham and special edition. The reason I ask is that the rear main bearing oil seal in my daily driver Ford van has finally started to leak (after over 170,000) and it drips onto the exhaust pipe, so whenever I drive the van I get gassed out by oil smoke. SO anyway, until I have the time to pull the motor on the van and rebuild it (might as well while it is out to replace the seal) I need to pick up a daily driver. And since I am doing my legal internship it needs to be a relatively upscale car and in good shape. I thought I might be able to find a nice condition Valiant Brougham which would fit this description quite well. Anyway, I would appreciate seeing the scans. If you can't post them here you can e-mail them to me at reed@seanet.com. Reed |
