Post subject:  Upgrading the stock braking system

Just purchased a 63 Valiant, needs total restoration. Regarding the braking system, what is the best way to go in terms of upgrades? like replacing the master cylinder etc.??

I suppose it depends a lot on your intended use of the car.
Me, I'd look into getting a disc brake setup and upper control arms from a '74-'76 A body, including the master cylinder.
That would alter your wheel lug pattern, though.

I would recommend converting to front disc brakes, 10 inch drums on the rear and a dual master cyl. Whether you stay with small bolt pattern (what is on the car now) or convert to large bolt pattern will determine what parts are needed. Of course while you have all that apart, you might consider rebuilding the steering and front suspension (possible doing upgrades). Then while doing that, you might want to do this other thing (known as project creep).
