The 8.75 W100 leaks around the carrier. I have taken it out before and replaced the gasket...that lasted a few months. Any tips or tricks about making this thing stop leaking? Thanks sb |

The machined face of the differential housing should be fairly flat and true, but give it a good look over. The mating face of the axel housing can be warped and distorted. I don’t put any RTV on the differential side, it gets a dry gasket. I do put a smear of RTV on the housing side to prevent leaks. It is also important to tighten the differential mounting bolts in a cross pattern to get it set squarely. I tighten all the bolts hand tight. Then do 12:00 and 6:00 then 9:00 and 3:00 and continue with that pattern around the differential. Bringing it up to 30% of torque, then 70% then 100% of torque. Make sure the threads on all the studs and bolts are good. I use grade 8 washers under the nuts. This is what has worked for me. |

I do similar to Dadtruck. Silicone the casket to the housing. But then I add a thin film of grease to the pumpkin side. That way the rear comes out and leaves the basket behind, since I change rears more than most. |
