I was getting ready to put another slant in my ute .
Checked to see if the early converter would fit the early crankshaft (small pocket)
It will not fit , the diameter of the pilot on the rear of the converter is slightly larger .
It is 1mm / 3/64 of a inch larger in diameter than the crankshaft pocket .
I know it is a early converter as i had it on another engine with the larger pocket crankshaft .
I got a bushing from Pat Blais to use on that crankshaft .
Is there a difference between manual and automatic early crankshafts ?
Is there a way to ream(special tool) the pocket on the early crankshaft out slightly without taking it out of the engine ?
Has anybody else experienced this ?
Cheers , Greg

I have another 2 early crankshafts here on the bench .
The torque converter slides easily into both .
This has me bugged .

I wonder if it was a crankshaft that had a stick transmission and they did not drill the torque converter pocket to size?
