Trying to determine what I need for a in tank fuel pump. ‘84 d150 w/225, s10 t-5, 3.55 with 29” tires. Looking at toyota ct26 holley 350 and 9-12 pounds boost. Stock engine internals with offy intake. What lph and fuel pressure do I need leading to the fuel pressure regulator? Gathering parts and knowledge at this point. |

Are you using your stock tank? Have you added baffles? Have you looked into the units that mount after the low pressure engine mounted fuel pump in their own little gasoline bomb in the front fender area? Honestly in tank fuel pumps are fairly universal with the walhbro 255 LPH unit being a standard. Think about that flow rate. That is 60 gallons per hour. You won't be building a slant that can consume that much fuel. My plans for own in tank unit are likely a hack and slash of the original tank. I am thinking about soldering a sump (with some baffling) into the bottom of the tank for a pickup mounted unit. But there is a company that sells complete purpose built tank units for retro apllications that is very tempting. |

Stock tank is abs/plastic. No sump. Looking at a walbro gm replacent pump. 50 psi, 27 gph. Just trying to figure out if I need a stronger pump. Seen an online article about using half of a quart oil bottle to build a tank sump. Couple holes drilled in it and regulator return line into it as well. Cheap but effective. Just need ideas / suggestions. Still shopping but have about 70% of what I need. |

Since you are building a carb system you don't really need the 50 psi, but it is part of the spec of the pump. 27 GPH@50 will flow more than enough fuel at the 15-20 psi you will likely need when under boost. Haven't ever heard of using an oil bottle as a in tank sump(clever), I would likely get something slightly bigger like a washer solvent bottle. I know washer solvent comes in a HDPE bottle that is fuel immune for normal fuels. Is this going to be a draw through or blow through setup? Just wondering how you are handling the boost with the carb. Some build a pressurized box around the carb (doable on a slant) others don't. Just curious. |

Going to be blow thru. Plan on the hanger 18 mods, possibly the boost referenced power valve from simplestage. My castrol bottles have hdpe on the bottom. Although a 5 quart bottle looks like a better size sump. |
