TRY AGAIN!!! I imported a 61 Plymouth Valiant from the States to Australia about 15 years ago. The car came with a Phoenix Arizona title showing the seller's name and address. I am sure the seller was not the original owner. How can I find details of ALL ownership history for the car? I would love to notify previous owners of the car and where it is now, etc. A great story and lots of pictures to show too. |

tracking down ownership records can be very hard if not impossible. |

Hi Pete! Mcnoople is right: tracking ownership history in the USA is very hard in the best of circumstances (you live in the state where you bought the car and can easily go to a local DOT/DMV office to ask for their help, the car is a make that has strong, organized, rather centralized club support going back decades). In many cases, those offices will not help you (privacy laws, their records only go back so far, you have to be law enforcement to get a comprehensive history). I wish there were a way that could give us all the answers we want. But the bureaucracy in place is not really there to help historical preservation efforts. |
