I recently refurbished a 1975 "barn find" engine that I acquired for $300.

I am in the process of fabricating a test stand based on a cheapo service stand and decided to share that project here.

I bolted a bell housing to the stand with 1/4" plate bracket to support the engine along with 1/2" all thread supports to stabilize engine.

I am in the process of fabricating a control panel with oil pressure, temperature and voltage gauges, tachometer, control switches and vernier throttle.

The goal is to obtain best performance with what I have and possibly install in my 1978 extended cab Dodge Pickup.

That's right; I intend to replace the 318 V8 with a 225 inline 6 and possibly convert from automatic to manual transmission. :D

Kindest regards; Scorch.

I had this new old stock phenolic board in the pile so I decided to cut some holes in it which are very useful to mount stuff in this very strong board. :)

I am still waiting for the vernier throttle cable to show up so; I'll mount that later. 8)

The control panel parts are just cheapo stuff from amazon.

Interesting.
I have considered a different straight 6 in an early Chrysler land yacht (such as New Yorker) similar to this 1970 Monte Carlo conversion. :D

I replaced the 360 from my 66 Barracuda with a 170. :P :P Neither motor was available from the factory.

Managed to get a little more work done on the test stand this weekend.

Battery Tray and Control panel is now mounted. :D

Now that the vernier control is in place, the panel looks uneven because there is still a big, open space on the left side.

What should I install on the left side? A cup holder?

Kindest regards; Scorch.
