Was changing the plugs and leads on my 65 Valiant AP6 and the socket wrench contacted and sparked on the back of the alternator.
My bad....no I didn't disconnect the battery.
Went to start up and no ignition.
Also not getting any dash gauges or oil light activating, apart from amp gauge
(Battery checked/ ok, checked fuses under dash centre also)
I noticed the aftermarket stereo fascia has dim light around the buttons and turning the ignition key on/off the oil light flashed on once only.
I've ordered a new voltage regulator...... am I on the right track thinking this has blown?
Really would appreciate any help. I'm a bit stuck and have 5yo electrics knowledge, this I also need to fix!
Cheers, Luke

Fusible link?

At work now, so can't immediately find a picture.

You likely smoked your fusible link, which you can read about here. It will need replaced with a new fusible link of the correct wire gauge and length, or you can retrofit a slow-blow fuse of the appropriate amperage rating; see here. Do not just replace the fuselink with plain wire, or the next time you have an electrical oops, the damage will be much more extensive.

No, you probably did not damage the voltage regulator.
