I have a 1962 Dodge Lancer Suburban, the paint code is 771. Does anyone know the name of this colour and what the formular is ? My paint guy cannot find any reference down here in Australia. Thanks in advance. Syd Coomes |

Sid, the US paint codes would be something like "WW1". Did your wagon have a fender tag under the hood? |

hyper_pak is right, "771" is not a 1962 (or any other year) paint code. Paint codes are two letters and then a number. Two of the same letter and then the number 1 means the whole car is painted one colour. Two different letters and then a 2 mean 2-tone. The 1962 Dodge paint chart is here. So if your car were originally painted "Buff", its paint code would be TT1, which might've been mistaken for "771". 2-tone was offered only on the 1962 Lancer GT 2-door hardtop. Such a car painted, say, Buff with a Nutmeg Brown Poly top would have a paint code of TY2. |
