What is that crinkle paint that's on a hemi valve cover? I think it would be a nice dress up for the slant.

Yeah, your picture is pretty small but it looks good.

Harley Davidson huh, is it a spray bomb?

yes, spray can. The trick is too spray it on and let it dry in hot sunlight.
I don't know why the picture is so small.

My Duster looked like hell under the hood, with original lime green paint showing and thick ugly olds green overspray everywhere, chipped, peeling and pockmarked with rust. Since this is a daily driver and not a show car, I decided to forgo the usual engine compartment detailing. I cleaned it up real good and applied the spray-bomb crinkle paint to the fenderwells and firewall. It was wrinkly, which hid all imperfections, but also a bit glossy for my tastes, so I hit everything again with some el-cheapo Rust-oleum flat black once the crinkle dried. This has made for a decent looking, durable, easy to apply and touch-up finish that gets a lot of positive commentary.

I still intend to put the car back in its original lime green color "one day", but I will stick with the black engine compartment.

Pics are in the slixer's gallery section, but you really cant make out the crinkle unless you squint really hard. ;)

Powder coat it black wrinkle. More durable and most shops charge less than $40 for valve covers any color.

I painted mine with a crinkle finish also. I think I used Krylon brand. The paint is cheap and its not perfect (first attempt at using the stuff), but for less than 10 bucks (cost of paint and new valve cover gasket) and a few hours, I got a cool cover. The paint has also held up very well also, with no chipping or discoloration from heat.
